Forma partis (1999) Clarinet solo
2:00
**a Program Notes . In his classic treatise on metaphysics, On Being and Essence, St. Thomas of Acquinas argues that the essence of a composed substance consists of both matter and form. Here form, called "substantial form" or forma partis, expresses the non-material aspects of the St. Thomas calls "the composed individual." In Forma partis, the material conception of sound, as represented by the overtone series, is expressed in a short musical statement for solo clarinet. The work is dedicated to D. Martin Jenni. **a Downloads:Hi-fi | Lo-fi | PDF ScoreAudio | MP3 Audio | PDF Score
